Early life

She was born into the prestigious Min clan of Joseon Dynasty and became the wife of King Gojong. In the latter half of the 19th century, Korea was in turmoil over the opening of the country, relations with the Qing Dynasty, Japanese expansion, and domestic reform.

Achievements

He had a strong influence on court politics and tried to use relations with Qing and Russia to counter Japanese pressure. Amid the political conflicts during the Kogo Reform period, the existence of the queen became an international issue.
