Early life

Born in Manchuria as a child of Nurhachi, he grew up in an era when the later Jin military state was expanding. After his father's death, he assumed power and set out to transform the Jurchen forces into a broader empire.

Achievements

In 1636, the name of the country was changed to Qing, and the name of the monarch and system were established to maintain legitimacy as a Chinese dynasty. By incorporating Mongol forces and making use of Chinese bureaucrats, they built a system to put pressure on the Ming.
