Biography

Early life

Born in Malaga, he showed a talent for painting from an early age. He joined the artist societies of Barcelona and Paris and explored new forms of form that departed from traditional realism.

Achievements

Together with Braque and others, he developed Cubism and broke down the idea of depicting objects from a single perspective. He created paintings, sculptures, prints, and stage art in a variety of fields, symbolizing the experimental nature of modern art.

Character & anecdotes

Guernica was made in the wake of bombings during the Spanish Civil War, and used a giant screen to denounce violence against civilians. This is a typical example of the combination of direct political expression and avant-garde art.

Historical Impact

If you study Picasso, you will see that 20th century art not only faithfully copied nature, but also moved in the direction of rearranging the way we see the world itself. He is a central figure in thinking about avant-garde art, war expression, and the social responsibility of artists. Many expressions of contemporary art are premised on his experiments.
