Biography

Early life

He is said to have come from a prestigious Chu family, and raised an army with his uncle, Xiang Liang, amid widespread dissatisfaction with the unified rule of Qin. The rebellion at the end of the Qin Dynasty spread due to dissatisfaction with heavy labor and harsh governance.

Achievements

He defeated the Qin army at the Battle of the Giant Deer and became the center of the anti-Qin forces. Afterwards, he opposed Liu Bang and fought in the Chu-Han War, but was defeated at the Battle of Gaaxia and committed suicide.
