Born into a prestigious family in the Tang Dynasty, he became a bureaucrat after passing the imperial examination. He was involved in both the court culture of Chang'an and local governance, and grew up as a samurai official who mastered poetry and calligraphy.

He is known for his calligraphy such as ``Senei Bunko,'' and established a dignified calligraphy style called ganho. During the Anshi Rebellion, he showed loyalty to the Tang Dynasty at the cost of his family, and was also remembered as a politician.
